Milwaukee man killed in shooting at Brady & Van Buren

A 54-year-old Milwaukee man was shot and killed at Van Buren and Brady streets, police said. The shooting happened at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.Police said they are still investigating what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made.Investigators have not released a description of the shooter.Family members identified the victim as attorney Jason Cleereman.Cleereman’s wife told WISN 12 News she and her husband were driving down Brady Street when they saw a man on a bike riding recklessly. She said at a stoplight, the man on the bike punched her husband, who was in the passenger seat, through the open car window.She pulled over onto the Holton Bridge and said her husband got out of the car, and that’s when the man on the bike shot him. “It seems like it was just somebody who was in a rage, and Jason just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time,” friend Pat Prabhu said. “And Jason was the kind of person who always wanted to right every wrong, and he felt something was wrong there. And he would get out and try and make it right. I guess that’s what he wanted to do, and you know, and this guy pulled out a gun and shot him in the head.”Cleereman’s family said he had two sons and worked in immigration law.His wife said she saw the bicyclist take off from the scene. He went down these steps onto Water Street and got away. She asked anyone with information on the killing to call police.”He didn’t even see it coming, so it’s just absolute shock for all of us,” Prabhu said.
